This morning after a bit of a sleep in we started with a coffee at Cool Muang. We then moved on to Stories, a centrally located and favourite coffee shop of ours, for our second coffee of the day. Once finished our coffees we made our way to The Happy Frog for lunch. We found this place on our last day in Chiang Mai the last time we were here and had already eaten. The Happy … [Read more...] about Day 7 – Wandering Around Chiang Mai, Thailand

Day 6 – Chiang Mai, Thailand
This morning we slept in a little bit then headed over to a coffee shop that we discovered the last time we were in Chiang Mai. Stories does a very good job of both coffee and food, but today we only enjoyed a coffee here. We then decided to spend some time exploring some of the 75 temples in the old city area of Chiang Mai. On our way to the first temple we wanted to … [Read more...] about Day 6 – Chiang Mai, Thailand
Day 5 – Sukhothai, Thailand
The plan for this day was to check out the Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Breakfast didn’t work out with our hotel, so we found a better option at a shop somewhere else. (My favourite part about the hotel was the pond with a large school of curious koi. I could have hung out with them all day, but we had things to see!) With coffee and breakfast … [Read more...] about Day 5 – Sukhothai, Thailand
Day 3 and 4 Back in Bangkok
In this update we’ll combine Day 3 and 4, as there’s nothing hugely exciting, but we did stop at a neat place along the road. Day 3 Decided to come back to Bangkok after going to Erawan Falls, and grab a couple things, do a bit more research, and get a massage. After the hike, my back was really stiff, and my legs were hurting a bit. I knew I could get a good massage … [Read more...] about Day 3 and 4 Back in Bangkok
Day 2 – Erawan Falls
We decided to check out of our hotel and decide later whether we’d head back to Bangkok later to pick up my passport and Crystal’s prescription sunglasses. It is only 130 km away, so not such a big deal. Instead of making instant coffee and having the yogurt and granola we packed, we decided to go to a coffee shop we had walked by the day before. We are so glad we did, … [Read more...] about Day 2 – Erawan Falls
Day 1 – to Kanchanaburi
We started Crystal’s three week holiday by going to Kanchanaburi, a couple hours east of Bangkok. It didn’t seem like we were eager to get started. I woke up at 7 a.m. and fell asleep again until 9 a.m. It took us a while to sort things out once we got up. We finally got on the road by about 11:15 a.m. I’d like to say I am the type of traveller who’s up at 6 a.m., car packed … [Read more...] about Day 1 – to Kanchanaburi
Thailand Condo Fire
One of the things you worry about, living in a condo, is fire. That worry came to pass last night, and we’re fortunate it was not much worse. I vaguely recall waking up around the time of the fire because I had heard a siren. I fell asleep, thinking it was just the usual sirens we hear in Bangkok. Crystal had also woken up around that time (maybe around 6 a.m.) thinking she … [Read more...] about Thailand Condo Fire
Thailand International Motor Expo 2023
Last week I headed out to the Thailand International Motor Expo to see some interesting cars and motorcycles. This time I was far less interested in the cars than the motorcycles. We have a car, and are certainly not looking at replacing it any time soon! Definitely not trading it up on a luxury vehicle either, for obvious reasons. I sat on some interesting … [Read more...] about Thailand International Motor Expo 2023
Meeting the Bangkok DJI Store Guard Dog
At the mall yesterday we stopped at the DJI store, partially to look at what they were selling, but also to visit the guard dog. Turns out he’s less of a guard dog and more of a greeter. He didn’t want us to leave either. … [Read more...] about Meeting the Bangkok DJI Store Guard Dog
Thailand Father’s Day 2022
Today is Father’s Day in Thailand, and Crystal’s day off, so we decided to go look at espresso makers in the northern part of Bangkok. We like our little espresso maker, but as our knowledge has grown, so has our desire to get a better espresso maker. We’ve narrowed the field down, and will pick one up soon. We made our way over to the Central Eastville mall for a late … [Read more...] about Thailand Father’s Day 2022
