We aren’t sure if this will end up in the news in North America or not, but we have already been contacted by one friend to check in on us. We thought we should let everyone know that we are ok.
There was a mass murder in Northeastern Thailand this afternoon. The latest story we have read indicated at least 37 people died and 12 were injured.
This all happened in the province Nong Bua Lamphu. We checked the map, and it is approximately 550 km away, and at this time of day (10:30 pm) it would take approximately 8 hours to drive there. When looking at the map Alain realized that he drove through that province on his motorcycle trip earlier this year.
We are safe and I hadn’t even heard anything about it until Alain asked me if I had heard after I got home from work, roughly 6 hours after the incident. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the victims on this sad day.
