Spectacular Wat Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew, Phetchabun

Buddhist temple Wat Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew, Phetchabun, ThailandSitting in my hotel in Phetchabun this morning, writing this post. (Of course I stayed at a Hop Inn!) Stopped at Wat Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew yesterday. It’s a spectacular Buddhist temple, in a beautiful setting, about an hour’s drive from Phetchabun. I had planned to go to Khon Kaen, but I was able to get a booking at my favourite hotel, so I had time to stop. I was at this temple for three hours but could have stayed longer. You know how it goes!

These photos are just from my camera, and just a few of the ones I’d picked out last night. I have been using my long lens on my camera and doing wider shots with my phone. Seems to work well.

There are a lot of interesting parts to this temple complex, and it’s worth taking time to explore. You can find a lot of places to eat, and if you want to have a longer stay, there are hotels available nearby. I haven’t done that yet, but I can imagine that sunrise and sunset have the potential to be spectacular here. One day I will!

I took a back road to get to the temple this time, and I am glad I did. It was a lonely road and I think one car passed me while I was taking photos across a little valley. This route also allowed me to get some interesting long shots of the temple too.
