Timelapse – Pattaya Bay

2025-01-12 by Traveller Leave a Comment

An evening timelapse of Pattaya Bay (Ao Phatthaya) from the Pattaya viewpoint just behind the Pattaya City Sign. From here you get a nice view of the bay, and Bali Hai Pier, with the city of Pattaya stretching out around the bay in an arc.

This timelapse is 20 minutes, and is in 4K. It was super windy up there, so the camera is a touch jittery. I should have stabilized the footage. D’oh! I guess I’ll have to go back and try again!

It’s nice that the road closes after about 3 pm (I can’t remember exactly) so you can walk up to the viewpoint. You won’t have to contend with any cars, and it’s an easy walk up.

As you’re walking up, you’ll pass by Pattaya’s infamous abandoned condo, which is 53 storeys high. It’s tied up in legal issues, and construction was stopped years ago. It’s not known whether construction will continue or if it will just be torn down.

Regardless, you may be tempted to go and explore, but I probably wouldn’t get too close. It was quite windy while we were there, and we saw and heard the occasional bit of construction material crashing down from the building.

The history of abandoned condo at Bali Hai Pier in Pattaya.

Recent story about the abandoned condo.
