Kind of tired, so today I ended up relaxing in Roi Et. I was up later than I had planned and also awake earlier as well. I need to start using ear plugs at night!
Today I did a bunch of writing, photo editing and a some other work. By the time I managed to make it out of the hotel, I was quite hungry so I had a big lunch.
On the menu was a large salad and a chicken steak. For a country with such strong flavours in its cooking, it makes me sad when I get served salad with sweet salad mayo, or whatever it is. It is gross. I mixed my own dressing up from what was available. It was passable.
Salad is not Thailand’s strong suit, that’s for sure. That said, there are a few chains in Thailand that do salads well. They don’t exist outside of a few major cities here though.
After lunch I needed to do laundry. I never get anyone to do my laundry for me because I can do it myself in less than an hour. I have some merino wool underwear and t-shirts, so you have to be careful with them. The wash is less than a 1/2 hour, and drying takes maybe 15-20 minutes. I do put my merino in the dryer, but at a lower heat.
My other clothes are generally fairly quick to dry too. I just check the merino stuff every 5 minutes. I don’t wash and dry in my hotel room. It’s quicker and easier to find a laundry and do it there!
Wasn’t feeling like going and seeing anything, taking photos, or anything like that. Kind of boring compared to what I have been doing.
I went for a massage. Unfortunately the masseuse seemed more interested in her phone than doing her job. I should have just left at that point. Even after getting her to put it away, she didn’t do a good job. A couple times I have done that. Once I just stopped everything and was preparing to leave when the owner came up to find out what was wrong. She ended up giving me a massage and did a far better job.
Oh, I went for coffee at The Hideout after doing laundry, and it was good to sit in the empty coffee shop and just relax. Kind of the theme of the day, and an appropriate name for this coffee shop.
