Roadhouse Barbecue Wing Night – Bangkok

Located in the Patpong district of Bangkok, Roadhouse BBQ serves up quality wings!

I am a bit of a wing aficionado, and I heard a rumour that Roadhouse Barbecue is the place to go in Bangkok for wing night.

I decided to go on a walkabout in the Patpong district before getting here. It was a pretty easy commute on the MRT. I figured driving would be a pain and parking probably more so. Roadhouse is on the edge of that district.

I realized I had actually been in this area at least once before, but only wandered down one street. I forget why I was here, but that’s not unusual these days.

It is an interesting area. I found one street full of gay bars (not my scene, not that there’s anything wrong with that). I was also approached by a variety of hustlers as I walked down four or five of the streets.

One guy pitched me on checking out a boy bar, and when I said I don’t go to boy bars, he switched to girl bars. I was approached by a couple of guys hustling massages. Then there was another guy hustling “massages” with two young ladies.

There were also lots of other sorts of bars here too, like a fetish bar, if you’re into that.

As I was having wings tonight I decided not to go to Sunrise Tacos, but I would like to check it out sometime. I think it’s the original location.

So, after all that, how were the wings? They were quite good. I had the Frank’s hot wings and the spicy & smoky BBQ. They seemed to be deep fried, and I believe had a bit of a coating. Not too much. They were cooked just right; not so much that the skin was over-cooked and there wasn’t much fat in them. They were also sauced right at the end too.

I added on the Carolina style cole slaw, which was excellent! I have never had that before. It is billed as “my grandma’s recipe cabbage, onion, carrots with an oil & vinegar dressing.” I would order that again! I just wish the portion was bigger on it.

The wings are good and I will definitely come back.

We’ll still cook wings at home too though. We’ve developed our own baked wings that we really like and, frankly, are as good or better than anything you’ll find at any restaurant. Once we mastered them, we pretty much stopped going to pubs for wing night.
