Out for the afternoon and decided to stop at Nittaya Kai Yang for quick bite to eat. It’s my first time here and I had to try the Chiangmai style fried pork, which was really good! The fried rice was excellent as well. … [Read more...] about Nittaya Kai Yang

Bangkok Street Food
Bangkok street food is the best, and tonight we just ate in our neighbourhood. We’ve got a bunch of go-to vendors that we see regularly, including the som tum guy. He makes the best papaya salad in Bangkok! It had been a while since we’d had street food. It was a nice change of pace. We’ll have to walk around the neighbourhood again and see if there are more new people … [Read more...] about Bangkok Street Food
Tuna Steak
For supper tonight we went again to Kabocha Sushi. We both ordered the tuna steak, and it was truly amazing. I could have eaten three plates of this. Even the cooked vegetables that came with it were amazing! I also enjoyed the mayonnaise for the tuna, along with a green onion purée that I put on the vegetables. To start, we had edamame and miniature fish skeletons. I don’t … [Read more...] about Tuna Steak
Food Truck Bazaar at Icon Siam
Back at our favourite mall tonight, Icon Siam, and this time it is for the Food Truck Bazaar. Lots of interesting choices! We both had a bacon curry dog with the smokewurst sausage. Also had chicken kebabs. Both were very good! It is a nice cool evening, with a good breeze, so it’s very pleasant outside. … [Read more...] about Food Truck Bazaar at Icon Siam
Roadhouse BBQ Wing Night – Bangkok, Thailand
Decided to introduce Crystal to Roadhouse BBQ wing night (on Mondays). The wings were a bit bigger tonight than when I was here last. It was buy 10, get 10, and we are stuffed! Had a salad, cornbread, and the Carolina style cole slaw. Very tasty! I have often commented that restaurants should have nap rooms. Tonight I need it! That’s okay. We took transit tonight … [Read more...] about Roadhouse BBQ Wing Night – Bangkok, Thailand
Kub Kao Kub Pla – Icon Siam, Bangkok, Thailand
On Crystal’s first full day back in Thailand, she went to work, and we went out for supper to one of our favourite Thai restaurants, Kub Kao Kub Pla at IconSiam. As usual, it was all delicious, and did not disappoint. It is certainly pricier than most Thai restaurants, but the quality is good as is the selection. One thing we had that is a bit different was a … [Read more...] about Kub Kao Kub Pla – Icon Siam, Bangkok, Thailand
Delayed Luggage
I am surprised to see this bag again! I was certain Crystal’s suitcase would end up in a moldy mountain of luggage in the basement of Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris. I envisioned a daring rescue mission to Paris, deep into the bowels of the notorious French airfield, fighting off chain-smoking airport workers, smelling vaguely of B.O. and malodorous cheese (the airport … [Read more...] about Delayed Luggage
Street food – Bangkok, Thailand
It’s always nice when some of our favourite street food vendors are out. Tonight I got crab fried rice, papaya salad (som tum), and skewers of chicken. All of it was delicious, as usual. There is always enough rice for two, so I have some leftovers for tomorrow. The roti lady is still around. The roti are really good but I never get them. I usually have a couple pieces of … [Read more...] about Street food – Bangkok, Thailand
Roadhouse Barbecue Wing Night – Bangkok
I am a bit of a wing aficionado, and I heard a rumour that Roadhouse Barbecue is the place to go in Bangkok for wing night. I decided to go on … [Read more...] about Roadhouse Barbecue Wing Night – Bangkok
Dancing Fry Girls – Bangkok Street Food
Our plan was to get French fries and gyoza from these young ladies. They were out of gyoza, but they had fries. Crystal forgot to mention they liked … [Read more...] about Dancing Fry Girls – Bangkok Street Food
