We started Crystal’s three week holiday by going to Kanchanaburi, a couple hours west of Bangkok. It didn’t seem like we were eager … [Read more...] about Bangkok to Kanchanaburi – Day 1 – Road Trip Thailand

Condo Fire in Bangkok
A condo fire is one of those things you worry about. That worry came to pass last night, and we’re fortunate it was not much worse. I vaguely recall waking up around the time of the fire because I had heard a siren. I fell asleep, thinking it was just the usual sirens we hear in Bangkok. Crystal had also woken up around that time (maybe around 6 a.m.) thinking she heard … [Read more...] about Condo Fire in Bangkok
Thailand International Motor Expo 2023
Last week I headed out to the Thailand International Motor Expo to see some interesting cars and motorcycles. This time I was far less interested in the cars than the motorcycles. We have a car, and are certainly not looking at replacing it any time soon! Definitely not trading it up on a luxury vehicle either, for obvious reasons. I sat on some interesting … [Read more...] about Thailand International Motor Expo 2023
Friendly French Bulldog Guarding Bangkok DJI Store
At the mall yesterday we stopped at the DJI store, partially to look at what they were selling, but also to visit the guard dog. Turns out he’s less of a guard dog and more of a greeter. He didn’t want us to leave either. Based on a bit of research, I think this is a French bulldog. … [Read more...] about Friendly French Bulldog Guarding Bangkok DJI Store
Boon Tong Kee Restaurant at Central Eastville
Today is Father’s Day in Thailand, and Crystal’s day off. We decided to go look at espresso makers in the northern part of Bangkok and ended up at Boon Tong Kee restaurant. Our little espresso maker is okay, but as our knowledge has grown, so has our desire to get a better espresso maker. We’ve narrowed the field down, and will pick one up soon. Making our way … [Read more...] about Boon Tong Kee Restaurant at Central Eastville
Dragon Temple – Wat Sam Phran Thailand
We recently had a chance to go see Wat Sam Phran, also known as the Dragon Temple. It’s an unusual temple about a 45 minute drive from where we live and it wasn’t what we expected at all. As you can see from the photos, the temple is a 17 storey tower with a snake-like dragon wrapped around the building with its head at the top. What we did not expect was … [Read more...] about Dragon Temple – Wat Sam Phran Thailand
Yaowarat Road – Bangkok Chinatown
Headed down to Chinatown (aka Yaowarat Road) one night recently to do some street photography. It wasn’t a rainy night, and this time I had my camera, and not just my phone. I had my Olympus 40-150 mm f/2.8 lens on (my favourite lens!), so I was able to capture some candid shots without being in someone’s face. Because of the 2x crop factor on my Panasonic G9, the lens … [Read more...] about Yaowarat Road – Bangkok Chinatown
Car Stereo Installation @ QC Car Audio in Bangkok
We’re spending part of the afternoon in a little coffee shop close to QC Car Audio, a car stereo shop. We have been here before, and had determined this shop was one we wanted to install a new stereo in our car. We had bought a stereo a couple years back to install in our Sprinter and had not gotten around to doing so. We had planned to sell it but in the madness of … [Read more...] about Car Stereo Installation @ QC Car Audio in Bangkok
IconSiam – Loy Krathong 2022 – Bangkok Thailand
Spent part of the day at IconSiam Mall. Checked out a few things at the Apple store, had supper at a Korean restaurant we like (The Bibimbab), and then checked out the festivities on the river promenade behind the mall celebrating Loy Krathong. IconSiam was a busy place for a Monday night! Still recovering from jet lag from our trip back to Canada. Wasn’t so bad on the … [Read more...] about IconSiam – Loy Krathong 2022 – Bangkok Thailand
Doi Ang Khang – Timelapse
In northern Thailand, on the border with Myanmar in the Fang District of Chiang Mai province, is a mountain called Doi Ang Khang. It’s a beautiful mountain where a twisty road, with switchbacks and hairpin turns, takes you all the way to the top. On my motorcycle trip in February of this year, I rode there with a friend. We found a helicopter landing pad, and it seemed … [Read more...] about Doi Ang Khang – Timelapse
